a cute little motel on the beach in Santa Monica, steps away from the pier. As long as your expectations are for a little well cared for motel, you will be very pleased staying here. Half the price of the bigger full service hotels on the street, so if you’re looking for one of them don’t expect the same amenities here. Clean comfy rooms, easy access to beach, quiet and quaint, it’s a hidden gem in an otherwise bustling part of town.

Good location, clean room. Indifferent reception staff. Construction all around the building not charming. And the septic smell that required us to move rooms was not charming either. Once you leave your room you are in the parking lot. The walkway in photos is shared with residents in a neighboring building - it’s not a hotel common area to hang out in. The room is functional for sleeping - you will want to spend the rest of the day elsewhere.

Positive: It was a couple minutes from the beach Negative: There were only 6 parking spots available, they had us parking blocks away at a parking garage. The bed was queeky, everything in the room was outdated. You can hear the neighboring rooms.

I honestly don't understand the negative reviews. My experience was excellent from start to finish. The hotel is in a fantastic location, right across from the beach, making it the perfect place to enjoy Los Angeles. Every member of the staff was incredibly kind, welcoming, and always happy to help. The room was beautiful, very spacious, spotless, and had excellent air conditioning, which was a huge plus in the summer heat. The outdoor common areas were also very well maintained, and the overall atmosphere was wonderful. If I come back to Los Angeles, I would definitely stay here again. I highly recommend it!

We were a group of three so the room was a bit small for us. We were constantly reshuffling to get out of each other's way. The air conditioner was in the bathroom so our room was quite warm when we first arrived, but wasn't to bad once it cooled off. The windows do open, but not much due to safety stoppers so that's not necessarily a great option either. The bathroom was very small and could use some work, but other than that we thought the room was clean and adorable and it was a great location. Just a short walk to the beach or pier and several restaurants. I'd stay here again if it was just one or two people, but maybe find something else if I were with a larger group.

The manager of this hotel is unprofessional and was unwilling to refund our last nights stay due to illness (approx. 370). I emailed business Sunday night when we arrived, talked to him again on Monday and still no response!! His justification was that I had booked the room months in advance and they couldn’t resell the room!! The day prior I saw 2 walk in guests!! Cannot believe I was held hostage into paying the last night! I told him I was going to give a poor review and he said what are you threatening me? Wow, just couldn’t believe it! And he called me rude because I wanted my money back for 1 night!! SKIP this motel! And whatever you do - don’t get a room facing the main drag in Santa Monica boulevard!!

Very pleased we stumbled across this gem of a hotel. The rooms are basic but spacious, and enjoy the benefit of a fan and a small air con unit. The front office staff were pleasant and approachable, allowing bags to be stored post checkout. The location is second to none and is where the hotel gets it wonderful name. Just a short stroll to the beach down a idyllic lane (see photograph), and you have everything that santa monica has to offer. On another note the hotel is well connected to public transport links, being only a 10 minute walk to the LA metro 🚇.

Sea Blue Hotel is the perfect old school beach hotel. Nothing fancy, but everything you need. It's a few minutes down a lovely, plant and flower filled walk to the beach and Santa Monica pier. Third Street Promenade is just a short walk away for shopping and restaurants. My brother and I arrived 12/16 at around 11:30 am for an overnight stay. We expected to leave our bags and return later at the 4pm check in time. However, Eddie informed us that our room was ready and gave us early check in at no additional cost. Check out is 11am, but we were given an extra 30 minutes, then left our bags at the office so we could enjoy the day before catching an afternoon flight. We met Hova that evening, and she was a gem as well. The beds and pillows were comfortable, and the room was clean and cozy. I will definitely return!
